It is known to us that the federal government of Nigeria last week launched a student loan portal called the Nigerian Education Loan Fund(NELFUND), which gives access to Nigerian students to apply for loans that would be used to take care of school activities such as registration fees, feeding, accommodation, and many more.

This loan was initiated in order to break financial barriers in higher education and to give every Nigerian citizen every Nigerian citizen a room to study and acquire knowledge in and within the country.

Therefore, to give an injection to every Nigerian student who has the willingness to apply for the loan, she or he should begin their applications as time and the number of applicants are on the rise these days. Based on reports by “The Nation” newspaper, the number one applicant hit 60,000. The newspaper reported that

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), Akintunde Sawyerr, has said that 60,000 students from federal tertiary institutions have registered for the student loan scheme since the launch of the portal last Friday.

He said the agency will start receiving applications from students of state-owned tertiary institutions in three weeks. Sawyerr, however, said that 30,000 students have successfully applied for the loan.
