The Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCO), operator of Oil Mining Lease 118 in collaboration with its Co-ventures—Nigerian Agip Exploration, TotalEnergies Nigeria, and Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria (Deepwater) Limited—under a Production Sharing Contract (PSC) with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), invites applications from eligible Nigerian students for the:

This scholarship programme is designed to promote academic excellence and enhance the skills of young Nigerians. It offers an annual grant to successful applicants from their second year through to the completion of their undergraduate degree programme. Eligible students must be enrolled in National Universities Commission (NUC) accredited courses at Nigerian universities.

  • Be Nigerian citizens.
  • Be in their second year of full-time study at a Nigerian University accredited by the NUC.
  • Have a minimum CGPA of 3.5 on a 5-point scale or its equivalent in other grading systems.
  • Not be beneficiaries of any other scholarship from entities in the Oil and Gas industry, either national or international.

Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

Selection Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Ensure their application is received no later than the specified deadline via the scholarship portal ONLY.
  • Meet the eligibility criteria to be invited for the monitored computer-based test.
  • Be among the top 10 candidates shortlisted from each of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory for academic verification prior to the scholarship offer.
  • Be aware that candidates with falsified results will be disqualified.
  • Only be contacted to receive the scholarship award if they have successfully met all criteria.
  • Maintain a minimum CGPA of 3.5 per session on a 5-point scale, or its equivalent in other grading systems, to sustain the award.

  • Personal data collected by Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCO) on behalf of itself, Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), and its Co-venture partners will be used exclusively for selecting candidates for the scholarship award. The information will not be used for an incompatible purpose.
  • NNPC-SNEPCo is the Controller for the processing of your personal data and will not use your personal data for direct marketing purposes.

Important Information

  • Every applicant should have a valid personal email account and phone number.
  • Candidates should include personal and educational details in the application.
  • Applicants should upload scanned copies of the following as part of the application:
  • Recent passport-sized photograph of the applicant in JPEG format, not more than 200 kilobytes;
  • University or JAMB Admission Letter;
  • Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) Result;
  • O’ Level Result(s); and ‘A’ Level/OND/NCE Result(s) as applicable;
  • Letter of Identification from State of Origin indicating the applicant’s local government of origin;
  • Cumulative Grade Point Average after the first year, i.e., candidates must have completed and have results of at least 2 academic semesters.
  • All candidates are required to fill and sign the Government Official declaration form.

Application Steps

To apply, follow the steps below:

  1. Click on the “Apply Now” tab.
  2. Click on “Register Now” to create an account.
  3. Proceed to your email box to activate your account.
  4. Click [Here] to return to the Scholarship site.
  5. Enter your registered email and password to upload your information.
  6. Click on Here (PDF) to download the Government Official Declaration Form.
  7. Correctly fill and upload the signed form.
  8. Enter your personal information, National Identification Number, educational information, and other information, and upload the required scanned documents.
  9. Ensure the name used in applications matches the names on all documentation in the same order. Upload a sworn affidavit or certificate if otherwise.
  10. Ensure you view all documents after uploading to ensure that they are clear and accurate.
  11. When asked to upload a photo, upload a passport photograph with a white background.
  12. Recheck application information to avoid errors.
  13. Click “Apply Now” to submit information.
  14. You will receive an email and an SMS confirming your application was successful.
  15. Return to the [Link], enter your Email and Password to download your profile, and proceed to have your Head of Department sign the document.
  16. Upload a scanned copy of the signed profile; this will be used for verification.

Note: Multiple applications attract a disqualification penalty from the Scholarship board.
