Call for Instructors: AREAi English Access Scholarship Program 2024

Are you passionate about teaching and eager to make a difference in young people’s lives? The English Access Scholarship Program (or “Access Program”) is a fantastic opportunity for you to do just that.

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and run locally by the U.S. Embassy/Consulate in partnership with the Aid for Rural Education Access Initiative (AREAi), this program is all about giving bright, underserved students a chance to thrive through English language education and cultural exchange.

What You’ll Do

As a teacher in the Access Program, you’ll play a crucial role in shaping students’ futures. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Craft Engaging Lessons: Design and prepare lessons that are both educational and inspiring, helping students achieve their learning goals.
  • Deliver Dynamic Instruction: Communicate clearly and use creative methods to make learning engaging and effective. Tailor your approach to meet the diverse needs of your students.
  • Support and Motivate: Work closely with students, providing one-on-one help and fostering a positive, inclusive classroom environment.
  • Assess and Guide: Create and grade assessments to track progress and offer constructive feedback. Encourage students to explore new learning opportunities and career paths.
  • Collaborate and Innovate: Team up with other educators, parents, and stakeholders to enhance the learning experience. Plan and execute exciting educational activities and events.
  • Grow Professionally: Stay up-to-date with the latest teaching methods and educational trends through seminars and conferences.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking dedicated educators with:

  • Relevant Education: A degree in English Language or a related field, along with a teaching certificate.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of teaching experience with this age group.
  • Knowledge and Passion: A strong understanding of TESOL, 21st Century Skills, and U.S. culture and values will set you apart. We value your commitment to best practices and educational guidelines.
  • Commitment: Willingness to follow the Access Program and AREAi’s policies and procedures.

Essential Skills

  • Lesson Planning: Ability to create engaging and effective lesson plans.
  • Communication: Clear, compassionate communication and active listening skills.
  • Adaptability: Knowledge of teaching methodologies and the ability to adapt to students’ needs.
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in using technology to enhance teaching.
  • Leadership and Patience: Skills to lead and support students aged 13-20 with empathy and enthusiasm.
  • Organization: Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Creativity: A creative, energetic approach to teaching.
  • Ethics: Strong moral values and a commitment to maintaining a positive learning environment.
