Meet Usman Dalhatu, a graduate of ABU Zaria Who Invented Ventilators, Vacuum Cleaner, & Solar-Powered Kiosks

Usman Dalhatu, a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, has garnered attention for his innovative creations aimed at improving the lives of street food vendors.

His journey into innovation began during his 200-level studies when he conceived the idea of an emergency ventilator, which later evolved into a portable automatic ventilator.

A few years ago, Dalhatu introduced another groundbreaking invention: a solar-powered kiosk designed to assist food vendors, particularly those operating at night.

Inspired by witnessing a vendor struggling to work in the dark, Dalhatu sought to create a solution to enhance their efficiency and comfort.

His creation, known as the iCart Solution, is a solar-powered kiosk designed to enhance the efficiency and convenience of food vendors selling noodles, snacks, fried eggs, beverages, and other fast food items to travelers and customers.

Describing his invention as “a movable car that is used for making fast food and snacks in the streets and campus,” Dalhatu aims to revolutionize the street food industry with his futuristic-looking solar-powered kiosk.

It features an inverter battery, cooking stove, portable desk, and a television for customer entertainment. Additionally, various compartments provide ample storage space for food items.

Using locally sourced materials in Nigeria, Dalhatu and his team managed to produce one prototype of the iCart Solution in just five days. The kiosk is equipped with a solar panel, enabling it to run on renewable energy, making it both eco-friendly and cost-effective.

A few months after investing the Kiosk, Usman won a $10,000 start-up grant prize for his invention.

Having graduated from Ahmadu Bello University, Nigeria, Usman is currently studying International Business at Westford University College, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.

Usman is also known for his other inventions like automatic ventilator, industrial vacuum cleaner, among others.
