Position: Extension Officer
Key Responsibilities:
As an Extension Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting poultry farmers by providing them with the knowledge and resources they need to improve their practices and increase their productivity. Your responsibilities will include:
• Conducting regular visits to farmers’ locations to provide expert extension support and guidance on optimal poultry farming practices.
• Educating farmers on best practices in breeding, rearing, health management, and disease prevention for poultry farming.
• Assessing existing poultry production systems and providing tailored recommendations for improvements in biosecurity, housing, feeding strategies, and waste management techniques.
• Organizing and delivering informative training sessions and practical workshops on key topics such as poultry nutrition, effective feed formulation, and efficient feed management.
• Collaborating closely with farmers to develop customized feeding programs based on their specific production goals and available resources.
• Monitoring and evaluating farmers’ operations, proactively identifying areas that require additional support or intervention.
• Assisting the Extension Manager in designing comprehensive training schedules and developing impactful educational materials and curriculum.
• Facilitating farmers’ access to credit and financing options, including providing guidance on loan application processes and financial management strategies.
• Staying up to date with the latest advancements in poultry farming research and technology and sharing relevant information with farmers to boost their productivity and profitability.
• Maintaining accurate records and documentation of farm profiles, visit logs, training sessions conducted, and extension services provided to ensure effective program tracking and evaluation.
