About AISVIP

Aid Initiative to Support Vulnerable and Idle People (AISVIP) is a Nigerian non-governmental organization focused on empowering vulnerable and less privileged people, particularly communities affected by insurgency in Northeast Nigeria.

Conceived in 2016 and officially registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) on 17 July 2018, AISVIP is a non-political and non-profit national organization. The organization operates across Borno and Yobe States in partnership with UN agencies, national organizations, and international partners. Key areas of focus include protection, educational support, livelihoods, peace enlightenment, community development, and waste management.

Job Summary

The Child Protection Assistant will support the implementation of child protection activities under the NHF Protection Project in Damagum, Fune LGA, Yobe State.

The successful candidate will assist with identifying and referring children at risk, supporting case management and psychosocial activities, engaging communities on child protection issues, maintaining confidential records, and promoting safeguarding and accountability standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Child Protection Service Delivery

• Support the identification, registration, and referral of children at risk, including Unaccompanied and Separated Children (UASC).

• Assist with child protection case management under the supervision of the Protection Officer.

• Support structured Psychosocial Support (PSS) activities for children and caregivers.

• Support safe and appropriate referral of children requiring specialized protection or other services.

2. Community Engagement and Prevention

• Facilitate child-friendly awareness sessions on child rights, protection risks, and available services.

• Engage parents, caregivers, community leaders, and protection committees on child protection concerns.

• Support Family Tracing and Reunification (FTR) activities for at-risk children where applicable.

• Promote community awareness of available child protection and referral services.

3. Monitoring, Documentation, and Reporting

• Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential documentation of child protection cases and activities using approved tools.

• Support protection monitoring and reporting of emerging child protection trends and risks within communities.

• Assist in collecting feedback from children and caregivers in accordance with Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) principles.

• Support the preparation of relevant activity and protection reports as required.

4. Safeguarding and Ethics

• Ensure child protection activities comply with child safeguarding standards.

• Uphold Protection from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (PSEAH) principles and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.

• Promote safe referral pathways for children and vulnerable individuals.

• Support child-friendly complaint and feedback mechanisms.

• Treat children, caregivers, colleagues, and community members with dignity, respect, and sensitivity.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Candidates should possess relevant qualifications and experience appropriate to child protection, humanitarian response, social work, community development, psychology, protection, or related areas.

• Applicants should demonstrate a strong interest in working with vulnerable children and communities.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive protection information.

• Experience supporting child protection, case management, psychosocial support, community engagement, protection monitoring, or humanitarian programmes will be an added advantage.
