About the Consultancy
Plan International Nigeria invites qualified consultancy firms and individual consultants to submit proposals for the review, translation, localization, and field validation of flood resilience messages under the Zurich Alliance ZCRA Project.
The objective is to transform technical meteorological forecasts into clear, culturally appropriate, and actionable messages in Hausa and Fulfulde to improve early warnings, community preparedness, and anticipatory action across vulnerable communities in Yobe and Adamawa States.
Scope of Work & Key Activities

Translation & Localization: Translate and culturally adapt existing English flood warning and resilience messages into Hausa and Fulfulde.

Multi-Channel Adaptation: Draft specialized, actionable scripts tailored for SMS alerts, radio jingles, and poster communications.

Community Validation: Conduct field-testing to evaluate community perception, address warning fatigue or skepticism, and incorporate local feedback into final message templates.

Audience Segmentation: Group messaging strategies according to specific vulnerability levels and demographic groups across Northern Nigeria.

Multilingual Message Template Library: Pre-approved scripts for various flood severity levels.

Multi-Channel Strategy Map: Operational guidelines for SMS, radio, and print platforms.

Eligibility & Consultant Requirements
Interested firms or individual consultants must possess:

Language Proficiency: Demonstrated fluency in speaking, reading, and writing both Hausa and Fulfulde.

Contextual Knowledge: In-depth understanding of local cultural dynamics, terminology, and communication channels in Yobe and Adamawa States.

Relevant Experience: Experience translating technical or humanitarian materials into clear community-facing communications.

Fair Compensation: Commitment to paying all project staff at least the National Living Wage.
