State Coordinator at eHealth Systems Africa

eHealth Africa is focused on improving healthcare by creating effective ways to implement reliable health information management systems. Purpose of the Role

  • The State coordinator is responsible for leading and overseeing monitoring activities in the state’s implementing LGAs.
  • The role involves working closely with Field monitors, beneficiaries, cooperating partners, retailers and vendors, community members and leaders, and other stakeholders to support the effective implementation of monitoring and assessment activities.

What you’ll do

Project management and Technical Support.

  • Ensure the development and quality execution of all monitoring activities at the field level following the agreed work plan (under the supervision of the line manager), and oversee the implementation of Monitoring and related activities to ensure that project deadlines are met, and targets are achieved.
  • Supervise field monitor to conduct monitoring activities, assessments and community engagements. Ensuring that all activities respect principles of confidentiality of interviewees and that all incidents reported to eHA are handled with due regard to protection principles.
  • Develop and maintain a good knowledge of the situation locally and the priority needs of beneficiaries, both in camps and host communities. Compile monitoring reports to inform eHA, donors and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee the mapping of stakeholders and follow up with communities.
  • Coordinate and ensure the collection of qualitative and quantitative data in line with confidentiality policies and procedures.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of all activities, including files, reports and other relevant information.
  • Provide support to the line manager in developing project plans, monitoring plans, execution of activities, and other relevant documents.
  • Verify data and information collected, service availability and access through interviews, direct observation and triangulation
  • Monitor project activities, data collection, and reporting to track progress, identify gaps, and facilitate continuous improvement.
  • Establish and implement quality assurance mechanisms to ensure the effectiveness and quality of monitoring activities.
  • Oversee the engagement with beneficiaries and stakeholders in the area of implementation to raise awareness.
  • Provide other support as required.

Capacity Building

  • Identify training needs and develop a capacity-building plan for field monitors.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions for staff and stakeholders to enhance skills and competencies in relevant areas.

Team management and Mentorship

  • Oversee and support the performance of the monitoring team through regular supervision, mentoring, and capacity building. Facilitate team meetings, promote a positive working environment, and address any staff-related issues or concerns.

Reporting

  • Prepare and submit reports (weekly, monthly and ad hoc) on monitoring activities on time and contribute inputs for internal and donor reports.
  • Ensure regular communication with the project manager about updates, achievements and challenges through activity progress reports, meetings and ad-hoc communication.
  • Document the response experiences and lessons learned in the monitoring component of the monitoring and accountability activity.
  • Ensure compliance with eHA and donor standard operating procedures.
  • Produce compelling presentations, training materials and progress reports, that effectively communicate complex information and ensure the dissemination of key insights to internal and external stakeholders

Coordination and representation.

  • Coordinate the overall execution of monitoring activities.
  • Ensure integration and collaboration of field monitoring activity.
  • Actively participate in coordination meetings with stakeholders, IDPs, and host community leaders to ensure information sharing and coordination donor donor-funded activities.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with NNGOs, INGOS, and government officials, and participate in relevant coordination meetings in the locations of implementation.
  • Liaise with other partners, particularly through the sector coordination mechanism, to share findings and any issues of relevance and/or concern related to the local context.

Education

  • Degree in Social Science, Development Studies, International Affairs, or a related field.

Work Experience:

  • 4 – 6 years of relevant professional experience in monitoring and assessment programming in a displacement settlement.
  • Team management and capacity building experience.
  • Demonstrate analytical skills and report writing experience.
  • Previous working experience with host communities, IDPs and returnees, and in remote environments.
  • Computer proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google Workspace.
  • Good understanding of protection principles, likely protection concerns in the context, and best practices.
