The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Yusuf Sununu, disclosed this on Thursday, noting that the intervention is part of the administration’s broader social protection strategy.

According to the Minister, the funds were distributed under various components of the National Social Protection Scheme, including:

  • Conditional cash transfers
  • Livelihood support packages
  • Basic income grants

The initiative prioritises vulnerable groups such as households headed by women, children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.

Dr. Sununu stressed that the programme is in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to lift millions of Nigerians out of poverty through targeted interventions and empowerment initiatives.

“We are committed to ensuring that no Nigerian is left behind in our nation’s development journey. Through targeted interventions and the use of digital payment systems, we are promoting transparency, accountability, and direct impact,” he said.
