Applications are now open for the 2025/2026 British Council’s Research Environments collaboration grants. The grants support capacity strengthening and collaboration activities that help develop research environment connections between the UK and Brazil, Morocco, Pakistan and Peru.

Project length: 12 months, starting January 2026
unding can be used to establish new research environment links, or significantly develop existing links, between research groups, departments or institutions, with the potential for longer-term sustainability.
Each collaboration should support capacity strengthening in the partner institution, while stimulating longer-term interactions between the UK and the partner country.
Eligibility
The call accepts joint proposals from one lead UK institution and one lead partner country institution. The application must be submitted by the lead UK institution.
UK lead institutions must be one of the following:
- A higher education provider with degree awarding powers
- A not-for-profit research institution, establishment or organisation.
Partner country institutions must be one of the following:
- A higher education provider, as locally defined
- A not-for-profit research institutions, establishments and organisations, as locally defined.
