The Deputy President of the Senate, Sen. Barau Jibrin’s Foundation, has awarded scholarships to 300 students to study in Nigerian Universities.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Mr Jibrin spoke at the ceremony marking the inauguration of the scholarship offer at Bayero University Kano on Sunday.
He said that the scholarship programme was aimed at enhancing educational development and promote higher education in the country.
He said, “I don’t know anyone of you here. I want this programme to be based on credibility, and I wish you good luck.”
According to Mr Jibrin, the foundation’s initiative is designed to support the students and promote educational development in Nigeria.
He emphasised the importance of fairness and credibility in the selection process, ensuring that the programme was merit-based.
The vice-chancellor of Bayero University Kano, Prof. Sagir Adamu, stated that the scholarship programme would transform education in the state and prepare the future leaders.
Mr Adamu said, “By training these students, it simply means you are preparing future leaders.
“The foundation expects the beneficiaries to contribute to the development of their state and nation upon completion of their studies.”
Prof. Ibn Abdullah, Pro-Chancellor of Al-Istikama University, praised Mr Jibrin’s initiative, saying that it would significantly enhance educational development.
He said, “The scholarship programme is a testament to Sen. Barau Jibril’s commitment to promoting education and developing human capital in Nigeria.”
