African Development Bank (AfDB) 2025 Internship Program – Session 1 for Young Africans 

Applications are now open for the 2025 African Development Bank (AfDB) Internship Program!

Founded in 1964, the African Development Bank (AfDB) is a leading pan-African institution dedicated to fostering economic growth and social progress across the continent. With a membership of 81 states, including 54 African nations, AfDB is committed to delivering on its Ten-Year Strategy and “High 5” priorities to accelerate Africa’s development.

The AfDB Internship Program is an integral part of the Bank’s Talent Management Framework, designed to provide students with practical experience while supporting the Bank’s mission.

Interns are selected through a competitive process aligned with the Bank’s current business needs.

Program Goals

The internship program aims to:

  • Offer students professional, hands-on experience at AfDB.
  • Build a pipeline of skilled professionals for potential future opportunities with the Bank.

Please note: Completing an internship does not guarantee subsequent employment at AfDB.

Special consideration may be given to students working on projects closely aligned with AfDB’s mission.

Program Start Date

The first session of the 2025 Internship Program begins in January 2025.

Eligibility Requirements

To apply, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Be at least the age of majority in their country and no older than 30 at the internship start.
  • Currently enrolled in a master’s program at a recognized institution or within one year of graduation.
  • Be a national of one of AfDB’s member countries.
  • Submit proof of enrollment or a degree copy.
  • Proficient in at least one of AfDB’s working languages (English or French).
  • Familiar with standard software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access); SAP knowledge is a plus.

Internship Terms

  • Duration: Internships last from three to six months and are offered once per candidate.
  • Location: Internships may be remote or on-site based on departmental needs. Remote interns must ensure they have suitable working conditions and reliable internet.
  • On-site interns are responsible for their travel and living expenses.
  • AfDB will assist on-site interns with entry and residence visas.
  • Eligible interns receive medical insurance and a monthly stipend from the Bank.

To apply, submit a complete online application with a detailed CV. AfDB conducts two internship sessions annually. This announcement is for Session 1 of the 2025 Internship Program starting in January. Details for Session 2, starting in July 2025, will be announced in April.
