Program Overview

The Liberia Foundational Skills Activity (LFSA) is a United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded program implemented by Chemonics International in Liberia. The project will work to increase the percentage of Liberian children accessing primary school and meeting government of Liberia learning standards.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

IT Support

  • Troubleshoot project IT systems, Endpoint and network problems, diagnose, and resolve hardware, software, or network issues.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, system software (operating systems) and applications.
  • Provide timely technical support and training to project personnel.
  • Provide maintenance and control of software and hardware related to servers, firewalls, switches, computers, laptops, printers, scanners, etc.
  • Liaise with Chemonics’ home office IT teams to ensure project compliance with enterprise IT-related policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that the project IT systems are compliant with Chemonics’ IT Security Standards.
  • Add or remove devices from Azure Active Directory/Microsoft Endpoint Manager.
  • Reset users’ passwords and MFA settings when needed.
  • Address unauthorized software use
  • Administer and maintain the local area network (LAN), including switches, access points and firewalls.
  • Administer and manage IT equipment, including inventory management, software versions, updates, licenses, etc.
  • Research new IT applications with the objective of optimizing office functions.
  • Facilitate GTI-directed security remediation actions on devices, networks, and applications
  • Communicate corporate IT policies to local staff
  • Other tasks as require

Procurement and Inventory

  • Supports the procurement and logistics assistant in maintaining inventory list for IT equipment and that all end users are recorded in compliance with donor rules and regulations
  • Provide guidance to staff in developing specifications for IT-related supplies or equipment that will be procured through activities
  • Ensure availability of necessary computer hardware and parts, diagnostic and repair equipment, and general maintenance supplies for field office, coordinating as needed with the home office.
  • Upon staff departures, securely sanitizes all IT equipment and phones
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Location of Assignment

The location of assignment is Monrovia, Liberia with intermittent travel throughout the program’s target six districts.

Supervision and Reporting

The IT Specialist will report and be supervised by the Operations and Finance Director.

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in information technology
  • Experience with Office 365 services
  • Experience with Identity Providers (IdP) like Microsoft Active Directory/Azure Active Directory
  • Experience with configuration management systems like Group Policy, SCCM, Microsoft Endpoint Manager
  • Experience in networking fundamentals (LAN/WAN), preferably on Meraki products
  • Demonstrated leadership, management, and technical skills
  • Ability to work in a team and independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong English communication skills (oral and written), required
