Afrisnet, in partnership with Stanford University, is excited to offer a summer research internship exclusively for University of Ibadan students.
Internship Overview
Selected candidates will participate in an 8-10 week research training internship at Stanford University, USA, during the summer of 2025.
Interns will engage in cutting-edge laboratory research and receive extensive professional development training provided by Afrisnet.
This training is designed to help students adapt seamlessly to American culture while maximizing their internship experience.
Key training highlights include:
- Enhancing professional and research communication skills (both oral and written).
- Gaining insights into the academic research ecosystem in the U.S.
- Preparing and encouraging students to apply for graduate programs in the U.S.
The training program is managed by experienced postdoctoral fellows and a research scientist from the Afrisnet Research Training Committee.
Internship Dates: The exact dates will be announced later but will fall between May and August 2025.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a Nigerian citizen.
- Be a current student of the University of Ibadan.
- Be a third-year student (completing their third year before September 2025).
- Have a First-Class Honors degree with a cumulative GPA of at least 70/100.
- Demonstrate a strong interest in research in fields such as biochemistry, microbiology, immunology, biomedical engineering, or related disciplines.
- Commit to spending 8-10 weeks in the U.S. for the internship.
