About the Challenge
The NASA Space Apps Challenge 2026 is the world’s largest annual space and Earth science hackathon. The initiative brings together students, developers, scientists, designers, storytellers, and space enthusiasts to solve real-world problems using open-source data from NASA and its international space agency partners.
You do not need to be a programmer or space expert to participate—NASA explicitly welcomes participants of all backgrounds, ages, and experience levels.
Challenge Areas & Project Types
During the two-day hackathon, teams or individual participants tackle challenges in key domains including Earth & climate, space exploration, satellite data, agriculture, and software development.
