Applications are now open for the 2026 KAS Media Africa Local Journalism Award. KAS Media Africa invites journalists to submit their work for the 2026 Local Journalism Award. Local journalism is the heartbeat of communities, telling the stories that reflect lived realities, shape public understanding, and connect local perspectives to national and global events.
KAS welcome print, online, audio, video features, and innovative social media journalism projects that showcase the importance of local reporting and meet high journalistic standards.
Eligibility:
- Each entry should include a brief description of the story’s background, the platform where it was published, and audience response.
- Work must have been published in 2025.
- Submissions can be in English or French.

- The three winners will each receive an invitation to the Local Journalism Conference in Malawi in February 2026, organised by the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung’s Regional Media Programme for Sub-Saharan Africa, along with a financial recognition to support their projects.
