TikTok Partners With ICC To Launch Digital Commerce Labs For Small Businesses In Nigeria

TikTok and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) have launched a new global initiative, the Digital Commerce Labs, aimed at empowering small businesses and strengthening digital trade opportunities, with Nigeria included among key beneficiary markets.

The programme is designed to help micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) build stronger online presence, improve digital skills, and expand access to new markets using a combination of TikTok’s commerce tools and the ICC’s global trade expertise.

It will also be supported in Nigeria by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), which will help deliver training, mentorship, and digital capacity-building for entrepreneurs.

According to the partners, the initiative will focus on helping small businesses translate digital visibility into sustainable income growth by equipping them with practical tools and training.

The programme will run through a hybrid model combining community-based engagement, online learning modules, and virtual classrooms. Participants will have access to structured courses, expert-led sessions, interactive learning materials, and certification opportunities.

Speaking on the initiative, the Secretary General of the ICC, John W.H. Denton AO, said the partnership reflects a commitment to making global trade more inclusive and accessible for small businesses. He noted that the goal is to equip entrepreneurs with the tools and confidence needed to scale and compete in the digital economy.

Tokunbo Ibrahim, Acting Head of Government Relations and Public Policy for Sub-Saharan Africa at TikTok, said small businesses are already experiencing growth through the platform, but stressed the need for deeper education to support long-term success. He added that the collaboration with ICC, NITDA, and LSETF will help strengthen entrepreneurial capacity across Nigeria.

The Digital Commerce Labs is expected to launch across selected markets in Latin America, Africa, and Southeast Asia, with further expansion planned later in the year. Nigerian MSMEs are encouraged to participate as part of efforts to enhance digital competitiveness and business sustainability.
