The Leading African Women in Food Fellowship (LAWFF) Program is a transformative initiative designed to empower and celebrate women leading the charge in Africa’s food and agriculture sectors.
Spanning six months, this fellowship provides a platform for training, mentorship, and community building. LAWFF supports exceptional female leaders—whether entrepreneurs, chefs, policymakers, innovators, or storytellers—working to reshape Africa’s food systems.
The program advances gender equality, contributes to poverty reduction, and fosters sustainable economic growth, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

1. Top Chefs in Africa
Culinary innovators redefining African cuisine through creativity and fresh approaches to cooking.
2. Disruptors
Trailblazing inventors, researchers, and entrepreneurs developing tools, models, or technologies to tackle challenges in the food system.
3. Trailblazers
Visionaries whose groundbreaking contributions are paving the way for progress in Africa’s food ecosystem.
4. Ecosystem Enablers
Leaders in the private, public, or nonprofit sectors scaling innovative solutions for a more sustainable and inclusive food system.
5. Food/Beverage Narrative Changers
Content creators, journalists, bloggers, stylists, and entrepreneurs using storytelling and digital media to shift perceptions, amplify positive change, and connect people with the richness of African food and beverages.
Eligibility Criteria
- Open to women only.
- Aged between 25 and 40 years.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in the agri-food sector.
- Demonstrable impact in your field.
- Must be a citizen and resident of an African country at the time of application.
