Role Purpose

As part of the Health Systems Strengthening (HSS) team, the Health Officer (Supply & Logistics) ensures that essential medicines and health supplies reach the most disadvantaged children in Nigeria. This role is a critical link between program planning and the physical delivery of life-saving commodities, ensuring that the health supply chain is efficient, equitable, and resilient.

Key Functions & Responsibilities

  • Situation Analysis: Continually update research on development trends within the health commodity value chain. Conduct equity analyses to ensure supplies reach underserved regions.
  • Operational Management: Provide technical and administrative assistance in the execution and management of supply chain packages for health programs.
  • HSS Integration: Support the logistics component of the overall health systems strengthening portfolio, ensuring that supply chains are integrated into the national health framework.
  • Program Efficiency: Research and report on supply chain bottlenecks to enhance program management and results delivery.
  • Emergency Response: Provide logistics support for humanitarian and emergency health interventions as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences is mandatory.
  • Additional Qualifications: Postgraduate degrees or certifications in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, or International Development are a significant advantage.
  • Experience: * Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in supply, logistics, procurement, or contracting.
    • Experience at both national and international levels is highly valued.
    • Prior experience in health supply chain management or emergency response is an asset.
  • Languages: Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of local Nigerian languages or other official UN languages is an advantage.
