The Federal Government has commenced of payment of the backlog of the new N77,000 monthly allowance for outgone members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Recall that in September 2024, the government raised the monthly allowance for NYSC members from N33,000 to N77,000, noting the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024 as the basis for the increase.
However, the new allowance onlytook effect in March 2025, leaving many corps members who had completed their service prior to this date eligible for arrears.
But, despite circulating rumors that these former corps members might miss out on the arrears, the government promised that all qualified corps member will receive their due benefits regardless of their current service status.
